"A Refutation of Biology" Biologically, this body is an extension of me, External skin, muscle, and bone made for me to live in Which I move with my internal mind behind my eyes. But this body of mine has a will of its own: Locking its upper and lower jaws, So, to eat, to speak, to breathe, I must place these two hands between these teeth And pry these jaws far apart, as far as these hands let me, For these hands quiver at the bones, Slipping and sliding with sweat, Wetter than the saliva that drips down The swollen tongue with those specks of sores From biting down on that wretched piece of flesh That speaks before consulting me, Mouthing off until the throat is parched, And the syllables I want to speak become A drawled-out stutter that slurs my speech Until my voice stops and there is no sound Except the sound of my body laughing at me.
